Our Story

OUR WHY

Our mission is to transform our love for fine food into products that are not only delicious, but also nutritious, pure and sustainable while being entirely plant based.

We break boundaries and set a new quality standard for plant based product.

We strive to inspire and we challenge conventional beliefs.

Our story started in 2018 when Marie, then freshly transitioned vegan, struggled to find an equivalent for her biggest weakness – cheese!

Marie was born and raised in the Czech Republic, with chefs as parents, and a family restaurant which daily life revolved around. Having then spent years in France during her studies, she would indulge in some of the finest cheeses in the world.

Our story started in 2018 when Marie, then freshly transitioned vegan, struggled to find an equivalent for her biggest weakness – cheese!

Marie was born and raised in the Czech Republic, with chefs as parents, and a family restaurant which daily life revolved around. Having then spent years in France during her studies, she would indulge in some of the finest cheeses in the world.

The transition to a plant based diet was not easy especially with her love for cheese. After months of torturing cravings, constant resistance, or a self blame after an occasional cheese indulgence, she decided it was time to stop the madness and find a way to create the same experience using plants.

She started researching and testing and a couple of weeks later, she created her first Camembert. Impressed with the result she went on to try and create Blue cheese. It was spot on. She shared her excitement with Mark, a long time friend that always had a good eye for business opportunities and who then decided to not only go plant based as well, but also to team up for the adventure.

Mark was born in Australia into a working class family in the south of Sydney. At the age of 12, Mark got his first taste for entrepreneurship, reselling sherbert in the primary school playground for pocket change. Despite being shut down by the Principal (Mr Day), the spirit lives on to think outside the box and find creative solutions for problems. Running his own IT business for over 15 years, Mark brings business knowledge, connections, and guidance to Dilectio.

Sharing the same passion to break the boundaries of what is possible in plant based dining and our common values based on compassion, curiosity and never ending innovation we then created Dilectio (Latin for delight, pleasure, goodwill & love).
